Visa-Free Countries For Indians Rise To 59 As Passport Strength Improves: Full List Inside
There’s good news for Indian travellers! According to the Henley Passport Index 2025, the Indian passport has made a significant leap—rising from 85th to 77th rank in global travel freedom. While the number of visa-free or visa-on-arrival destinations available to Indian passport holders now stands at 59, this is still a strong move up the index, especially after dropping five places last year.

What Is the Henley Passport Index?
The Henley Passport Index ranks 199 passports based on the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa. The latest ranking shows a growing shift in global mobility, with Asian countries taking the lead.

1: Singapore: Visa-free access to 193 destinations
2: Japan and South Korea: Access to 190 destinations
3: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Denmark, Finland: Access to 189 destinations
4: Austria, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg
5: Greece, New Zealand, Switzerland
At the other end of the spectrum, Afghanistan ranks the lowest, with access to only 25 destinations without a visa.
Where Does The Indian Passport Stand Globally?
With 59 visa-free or VOA destinations, India ranks 77th, ahead of countries like China in terms of recent momentum. China, for instance, has risen from 94th in 2015 to 60th, although it still lacks visa-free access to Europe’s Schengen Area.
