They’ve collected some expert hacks for saving a pretty penny on holidays and Kevin has one insider tip for a cheap upgrade to business class!

Kevin and Janetta have spent a lifetime travelling and there was one airline hack the duo considered keeping a secret, for just a moment.
“I really shouldn’t say this because everybody will get onto it…” Kevin began.
But he eventually spilled on just how to get business class flights for less:
”If you’re flying economy go for an airport upgrade. You don’t always get it because seats aren’t always available but if they are, you can pay at the airport to go into business class and it’s a lot cheaper than booking business class.”

Even as ‘travel snobs’, Kevin and Janetta admitted that sometimes you have to “sacrifice the luxuries”.
Their recommendation? Go with a budget airline and save on flights so that you can splurge on accommodation and experiences.
Their biggest piece of advice for saving: “Book in advance! The more you book in advance, the cheaper the holiday is going to be.”

Matt and Brett advised being savvy when it came to luxury experiences.
“You don’t have to stay at an expensive hotel to drink at their bar,” Brett said.
While Matt added in their own experience they “had amazing drinks at places [they] could never afford to stay.”
For those who are super budget conscious, Brett thought overnight transportation is the way to go.
“It saves you a night’s accommodation. A night on the sleeper train was fantastic. It gets a bit rocky but you get used it and then you wake up and you’re there at your next destination.”
Karly and Bri’s top tip was to pick a destination where your Aussie dollar goes further.
The Fren family seconded that and added that as long as it was clean and well-located, hostel accommodation did the job!
Teng couldn’t agree more saying, “Don’t waste your money on accommodation because you’re asleep anyway!”
